The newest member of the band, Markus Karlsen has proved to be a great addition over the past few months. He has been playing bass for the past 15 years, mainly focusing on the acoustic double bass for the past eight. He is taking to Rose's vocal harmony arrangements like a pirate to water. His Nordic heritage, including a father who for many years was master on Norwegian freighters, has made him an ideal candidate for the Pirate Ship.

He has been involved with numerous bands and ensembles over the years, including The Darwin Symphony Orchestra, The Sheikhs (progressive rock/ metal band), Timbah (Roots Jam Band), various jazz bands and most recently The Pirate Brides, which has extended his backing vocal ability within the rich four-part vocal texture for which the Brides are well known.
